30+ mother of two, fiance of one; who loves to spend her free time reading m/m romance and the occasional paranormal romance or horror books.

Control - 'Cardeno C.', 'Mary Calmes'

Really just enjoyed this author pairing! Plus, loved the whole falling in love first even though they were fated mates. Great twist on the usual mate plot. Characters were great, even the secondary ones.

Hope these authors pair up again in the future!

SPOILER ALERT!
Soulmate - Kol Anderson

2.5 stars. I was expecting super angsty brocest, but ended up with...something totally not that. Good writing, but just didn't really like any of the characters too much(except the brothers).

There was a random kidnapping and no real resolution between the MC's.

(show spoiler)

Guess I just had different expectations going into to this.

SPOILER ALERT!
Charlie in a Red Dress - Zoe X. Rider

3.5 stars. Enjoyed this one alot until almost the end.

The dialogue fell apart for me after Charlie & Jeff fooled around. And totally would of liked to see how they made their relationship work. Did they just have sex when Charlie was Charli? Just buddies when he's Charlie? I didn't really get that part.

(show spoiler)

Did like this one better than the last book I read by this author and it was fun until my brain started nitpicking everything at the end. :)

Fairytales Slashed 5 - Jamie Sullivan, Sandra Bard, Diana Jean, Cate Enslin

As with all anthologies, there were stories I enjoyed and some not as much.

Part of Your World - 3 stars. Odd mash-up of a merman & rock star story, but it worked for me. Enjoyable read.

Beast - 1.5 stars. This was probably my least favorite in the book. I usually like m/m versions of Beauty and the Beast, but this one disappointed me. 'Beauty' ended up with Stockholm syndrome and the 'Beast' never redeemed himself at all.

The Heart of Evil - 3.5 stars. I liked this one, but the ending felt pretty rushed to me.

Matters of Perception - 4 stars. Probably my favorite of the book and since it continues with characters from the previous story, it ended up upping my enjoyment of 'Heart of Evil', since we get a little more of those MC's.

In Memories Lost in Forgotten Time - 2 stars. Great idea for the plot, but I think it was just too short to get really hooked into it. Never really warmed up to the main MC's.

The Power of a Wish - 2 stars. Had some good moments, but I really, really disliked the sister. The romance fell a bit short for me, mainly because the MC's never had a conversation about things without misdirecting things or they were too full of pride.

The Blind City - 3.5 stars. This was a great adventure type romp, but it fell a bit short of romance until the end. Maybe if we had Thad's POV it would of made a difference.

So, overall I'd give this book a 2.5 rating, bumped up to 3 because the stories I did like, I really enjoyed. Not as good as the previous 'Fairytales Slashed' anthologies, but I know I'll be buying the next one because I love my fairytales with an m/m twist. :)

SPOILER ALERT!
Stranded - Andrew Grey

While I enjoyed most of the story, I really just did not like Johnny for...well, basically almost all the story.

Like Kendall said, he had to get kidnapped and almost die for Johnny to care. Plus, he kissed someone else! And it was kinda strange that Kendall didn't even care.

Would of rated this higher if I actually liked the romantic aspect. (Kendall could've done so much better)

When All the World Sleeps - Lisa Henry, J.A. Rock

3.5 stars bumped up because this is an amazing writing team. Great story, but I wasn't feeling the happy romance I usually go for. This is intense and dark and grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go until you reach the end.

I probably won't reread this one, but it was still a great read.

The Dark Collector - Vanessa North

4.5 stars. What an amazing short story! Totally not was a was expecting when I started reading. Which was awesome because I got so much more with this.

Recommended!

Scent of a Wolf - Draven St. James

3.5 stars. I'm hoping the author continues with the series. I'd love to see the other characters get their HEA. :)

Homecoming - Meredith Daniels

2.5 stars. I liked the characters and plot, but I felt like the story ended just as I was getting into it.

Brendan's Fate (Wolves' Heat) - Odessa Lynne

I love this series! Great characters, messy emotions all over the place, hot sex...what more could you ask for?

Seriously, more people should read this author! Everything I've read so far, I've liked. :)

SPOILER ALERT!
Hound Dog & Bean - B.G. Thomas

This was definitely not for me. Usually I like this author's work and the blurb sounded good, so I gave this a try. I never warmed up to H.D. throughout the whole book. I know he had issues, but I found him to be selfish. And too slutty. (and not in the fun way) Mini rant (and spoilers!) ahead...

WTF? Dean's parents gave him a bit of a hard time so he totally blames it all on Dean then takes off without telling anyone anything (except take care of my dog, since that's all he cares about). He basically runs from everything and uses guys for his own needs with no consideration for anyone else. Anyways, he takes off, cheats on Dean in the process (though since he was running away, I guess that doesn't count) and when he finally pulls his head out of his ass? DEAN JUST TAKES HIM BACK LIKE NOTHING!!!! No apology, no explanation, nothing. Just, BAM! HEA.

Again, WTF?

Plus, I think it could of been edited better to cut out ALOT of pages/scenes. I'm all for getting my moneys worth, but most of it was just the characters thinking about life or conversations between one MC and a minor character.

Can't recommend this one, but you should try Trust Me or Bianca's Plan by this author.

The Foster Family - Jaime Samms

Very engrossing, angsty, emotional read. Why only 3 stars? These guys were just a hot mess and they didn't know if they were coming or going most of the time. You know how when you read about threesomes, your not sure if one person will feel left out? That's this whole book. Angst, angst, angst. And, in my opinion, not enough happy times to make up for it. After finishing this book, I felt sort of icky because I can't see these guys making it together. After all the angst, I wanted a happier ending!

Still, the writing definitely kept me glued to my kindle.

Malting (Beer and Clay) - Sean Michael

Grabbed this on sale and was pretty disappointed. Basically one really long sex scene. I always get sucked into this author's blurbs!

Prince's Valentine - Hunter Raines

2.5 stars. Kinda pricey for a story I read in a half hour (which definitely took some of my enjoyment away).

The Servant Prince - Hurri Cosmo

WTF kind of ending was that?? Maybe I should really take the publisher's advisories seriously. I knew there would be a book two, but the book seriously JUST ENDED. With no resolution to anything ALOT of stuff.

grrr...

And what is up with everyone wanting Joron? And by everyone, I really do mean EVERYONE.

I don't think there was one person who didn't want him except maybe his sister (but she still thinks he's beautiful lol)

Personal Protection - A.R. Moler

3 stars. I enjoy this author's writing, but I always feel like it could be 'more'. More fleshed out, just a little bit longer. Seems to end just as the romance is beginning
